Refunds and disputes

When payment risk appears,
the money loop stops.

ReelBounty protects the campaign ledger while Stripe and ReelBounty operations establish what happened.

Two different issues need different handling.

A payment dispute or refund concerns publisher funding processed by Stripe. A campaign disagreement concerns a brief, submission decision, metric, reward or creator conduct. Contact ReelBounty support for either, but include the correct evidence.

Automatic safeguards

What happens inside ReelBounty.

1

Stripe reports payment risk

A refund or card dispute is received through a signed Stripe webhook.

2

The campaign is paused

New payable metric snapshots stop so the creator liability cannot continue increasing.

3

Unpaid money is held

Pending or confirmed earnings and unsent payouts connected to the campaign are placed on review hold.

4

Resolution is reconciled

Stripe’s later events update the ledger. ReelBounty reviews the creator and publisher impact before activity resumes.

Publisher

If your campaign payment is affected

  • Open the campaign and note its payment-risk status.
  • Check the payment or dispute in the organisation’s Stripe account.
  • Do not attempt repeated replacement payments without checking the ledger.
  • Send support the campaign name, Stripe reference and any relevant correspondence.
  • If refunded funding is replaced, wait for confirmation before resuming the campaign.
Creator

If your earning or payout is held

  • Check whether the reward is pending, confirmed, held, processing or paid.
  • Keep the qualifying content live and continue following the bounty requirements.
  • Do not resubmit the same URL or create duplicate payout requests.
  • Send support the campaign, submission URL and affected amount.
  • A hold protects the disputed balance; it is not automatically a rejection or reversal.

After Stripe decides

A cleared hold does not silently restart a campaign.

If a dispute is won or refunded money is fully replaced, ReelBounty can clear the automatic payment hold. The publisher must still explicitly resume a paused campaign. Lost disputes and unresolved shortfalls remain with ReelBounty operations for reconciliation.
